It’s 2025 and Artificial Intelligence tools are here to stay. As someone in the marketing industry you may find yourself asking if you should be using these tools or not? Or you may have even asked yourself questions like, how do I use AI tools? Are these tools authentic? Do these AI responses really sound like my brand’s voice? Is this a waste of time or a good use of my time?

There really isn’t a right or wrong answer if you should be using these tools, but there are definitely pros and cons to it.

We spent some time researching different social media prompts to test out in ChatGPT 4o mini for you! We researched the most commonly used AI prompts for social media research and picked out four prompts that we would most likely use for one of our manufacturing clients’ social media account. We entered them into the chat bot and shared our insight on each response that was generated.

But first, here’s a little background on the company we’ll be referencing in these prompts. Allied Plastics is a full service custom plastic thermoformer specializing in medium to heavy gauge quality thermoplastic parts. They supply custom single sheet, twin sheet and pressure-formed plastic products to a wide variety of OEM companies. Allied Plastics also offers in-house plastic sheet extrusion in material types such as HMWPE, HDPE, TPO, ABS, and Styrene.

Alexia’s Insight:

The first thing I noticed from this response was the hashtag, “#Industry4.0” which includes a period causing a break in the hashtag resulting it not to work correctly. For the image idea, AI suggests we use an image showcasing things like 3D printing, which Allied Plastics doesn’t offer as part of their services. I do think the call-to-action is a great way to get the audience engaged by having them share their experiences but also asking them to reach out to see how Allied Plastics could help them.

AI Prompt 2: Social Media Video Content

I’m looking for fresh, creative ideas for [TOPIC-related] content on social media. Can you suggest some photos or videos that’ll engage my [SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM] followers?”

AI’s response:

Photo Ideas:

1.    Behind-the-Scenes Shots: Capture images of the thermoforming process in action—machines working, team members monitoring quality, or raw materials being prepared.

2.    Before and After: Showcase a comparison image of raw plastic sheets versus the final thermoformed product. This highlights the transformation and innovation in the process.

3.    Innovative Applications: Feature products made from thermoforming that are less commonly known—think medical devices, packaging solutions, or custom prototypes.

4.    Sustainability Focus: Post images of eco-friendly materials or biodegradable options being used in the thermoforming process, along with a short description of their benefits.

5.    Product Showcase: Share high-quality images of finished products, emphasizing their design, utility, and versatility. Include close-ups to highlight details.

Video Ideas:

1.    Time-Lapse of the Thermoforming Process: Create a short time-lapse video showing the entire thermoforming process from start to finish. This can be engaging and informative.

2.    Day in the Life: Film a “day in the life” of a thermoforming technician or engineer, showcasing their role, challenges, and accomplishments.

3.    Expert Tips: Share quick video tips on optimizing the thermoforming process—whether it’s about material selection, machine settings, or troubleshooting.

4.    Customer Testimonials: Record brief testimonials from clients who use thermoformed products. This builds trust and showcases real-world applications.

5.    Sustainability Initiatives: Create a video highlighting your company’s efforts towards sustainability in thermoforming, featuring interviews with team members discussing eco-friendly practices.

Bonus Idea:

Interactive Q&A Session – Host a live session where you answer common questions about thermoforming. Promote it ahead of time to encourage participation and engagement.

Alexia’s Insight:

For this second prompt, I think AI did a good job of giving us a great handful of photo and video ideas. These are ideas that our client would maybe consider using for their social media. One idea that really stood out to me was the Bonus Idea; hosting a Q&A session could definitely help potential customers understand more about what thermoforming is all about and even help them get to know more about what other services Allied Plastics offers.

AI Prompt 3: Social Media Caption Ideas

Generate 3 [SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM] caption suggestions for an [SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM] photo about [TOPIC].”

Ready to innovate your products? Let’s explore the possibilities together! 🚀 #PlasticSheetExtrusion #Manufacturing #SustainableSolutions

Alexia’s Insight:

I don’t know if I really liked some of the verbiage or emojis used in some of these captions because they don’t really dig deeper into the topic of “plastic sheet extrusion” and they don’t fit Allied Plastics’ brand voice. Another inaccuracy I noticed was in caption two, when “medical applications” are mentioned, this isn’t something that Allied Plastics makes plastic sheet extrusions for. I do think that AI was helpful with the idea and proofreading aspect, but I’d still double check the responses, rewrite them a little so they don’t sound robotic or unauthentic.

AI Prompt 4 : Helping Craft Specific Messaging

Help me craft an informative message about [TOPIC] for my social media post caption.”

AI’s response:

Plastics manufacturing plays a crucial role in countless sectors, from automotive and aerospace to healthcare and consumer goods. This innovative field not only provides versatile materials but also drives advancements in sustainability and efficiency.

Did you know? Modern plastics manufacturing incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printing, injection molding, and thermoforming to create tailored solutions that meet specific needs. Additionally, the industry is increasingly focused on recycling and the development of biodegradable materials, paving the way for a more sustainable future.

As we navigate the challenges and opportunities in this dynamic field, collaboration and innovation are key! Let’s connect and share insights on how we can elevate plastics manufacturing together.

#PlasticsManufacturing #Innovation #Sustainability #ManufacturingExcellence

Alexia’s Insight:

One thing about AI is that you must be very specific when entering your question, and this response is a great example of that. Although the response I was given informs us more about plastic manufacturing, it doesn’t relate to Allied Plastics as a whole. It more so states general facts about plastic manufacturing and doesn’t resonate with the company or its audience. If the prompt was more detailed and tailored to Allied Plastics, the outcome would’ve been a little better. This response also uses a lot of buzzwords such as, “innovative,” tailored,” “paving the way,” and “as we navigate.” These words are used very often in AI generated responses and the audience will start noticing repetitive use of them, therefore, I think AI responses should be reviewed and edited to fit more of your authentic voice.

Pros And Cons Of Using AI Tools For Social Media

Based on our research there are both positives and negatives that can come out of using AI tools. Some of the positives I see from using AI is that it’s a great tool for researching and proofreading, there weren’t any misspelling errors, it gave me a ton of great ideas for captions, photo and video content, hashtags, saved me from writer’s block and even engagement tactics. It allows you to save a lot of brainstorming time by spitting out potential ideas for you and you personalizing them to your liking or to fit the topic you’re posting about.

Some of the negatives of AI tools is the lack of authenticity and making content sound too robotic or fake, the content quality isn’t the best because of inaccuracies, loss of connection between the brand and the audience, and not necessarily aligning with the brand guidelines and voice. I wouldn’t fully use everything that AI gives me, I wouldn’t just copy and paste it. I’d definitely review it, and see what ideas or thoughts I can come up with based on the responses.
