The Draft Haus in Sturgeon Bay, Door County has seen a lot of changes in the last several months. A new chef, a smartly redecorated interior, a new menu, and now a new website—www.TheDraftHaus.com. Manger and Chef Matt MacMillen wanted a simple website that could be easily updated to feature a dynamic menu, but keep the traditional feel of a sports bar. Simple design didn’t mean skimping on the website’s features.
“Draft Haus needed an online menu that could be changed quickly by our in-house staff or by our marketing team,” says MacMillen. “Making sure our website is as dynamic as our food offerings was a critical step to designing this new website.”
“Photography played an important role in this site development,” says Sarah Lobdell, Signalfire’s Project Manager. “Draft Haus had some great pictures of food, and also great pictures of some of their recent changes—like the beer garden.”
“Great environment is as important as great food,” adds MacMillen.
The website is constructed with WordPress, an open source content management system that allows the administrators to log in to the website anywhere there is a web connection. Changes to text, images, menus, or even upcoming events are made in real time. Guests and visitors can get a glimpse of the social side with a feed from Facebook.
Menus on the website include a sortable list of traditional pub foods as well as some specialties. Those interested in more than just a drink or meal out will find Draft Haus also supports event catering. The Draft Haus can seat and serve up to 250 people. An online form allows businesses and organizations to request an estimate on a traditional dinner or even fish boils, pig roasts, or other more engaging ideas.
Signalfire’s website was developed to be a resource for site visitors on mobile devices. A responsive design will reformat and optimize the site based on the size of device from phones to tablets.
“Mobile responsive is a must for any restaurant,” says Signalfire President Matthew Olson. “Sturgeon Bay is the heart of Door County, and it is a guarantee that visitors—local and tourist—will be using their phones to search for a great meal or a social drink.”
